The champions league quarter finals played yesterday ended in a remarkable fashion.
Leicester city saw their fairy tale UCL run come to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid in the King power stadium. The EPL champions having already lost the first leg of the tie in Madrid needed 3 goals to go through after falling behind in the first half. It was a remarkable run for the foxes as they maintain their unbeaten run in the UCL at home.
The most intriguing tie was the game played at the Bernabeu stadium. The atmosphere was intensified as the home team put 4 goals past Bayern Munich.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a perfect hatrick with a little help from the referee who was overtly poor on the night. Bayern opened the scoring in the second half with a penalty fired in by Robert Lewadowski. Ronaldo equalised with a header and Sergio Ramos the Madrid captain put the away side on level terms with an own goal. Minutes later Vidal was unjustly sent off after a receiving a second yellow card for a tackle against Casemiro.
The game then progressed into extra time where Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second of the night and completed his hatrick making it 5 goals against the German giants in the QF tie.
Ronaldo became the first player to score a 100 Champions league goals.
He made it 85 UCL goals in 85 games for Madrid.
The world's best became the player with the highest number of goals scored in the Bernabeu topping Di Stephano.
Sergio Ramos made his 100th champions league appearance for Madrid yesterday.
The defeat for Bayern meant that legends, Philip Lahm and Xabi Alonso played their last UCL games as they retire at the end of the season.
Real Madrid made it 7 consecutive semi finals, the first team in the history of the game to achieve that.
Big question now is will they do the UCL back to back double?
